  • Great Battery Life

The Cons

Verdict

This is one of the most powerful graphing calculators in the world for a reason: combining excellent UI with high processing power. Though the actual understanding and usage of all its functions may have a slight learning curve, this is a powerful tool for the classroom and workplace alike.

Features of TI-Nspire CX Graphing Calculator

One of the newest calculators from Texas Instruments, the TI-Nspire CX features not only number keys, but also an alphabetical keyboard. This is used in combination with its powerful function/equation/matrix solving functionalities, which allow it to easily solve any basic question that is encountered in high school.

The calculator also includes a touchpad for easy and simple navigation. This being said, many reported that the TI-Nspire CX keys are not as usable as the ones found in the TI-83 or TI-84, since their close grouping also results in accidentally hitting an alphabetical key rather than a numerical key when doing problems.

This can be considered a minor issue given the ability of this calculator to solve problems: one user claimed that he could “sleep through his algebra classes” and still get a good grade simply using the features on the calculator. Like all new TI calculators, the TI-Nspire CX also comes with a manual that lists all the various features and functions.

It has a built-in touchpad and a powerful mathematics engine allow you to visualize the same problem up to 4 times on the same screen“Test” feature makes calculator usable for testing. Compatible with Nspire student/teacher software, allowing for sharing across classrooms.

Durability

The TI-Nspire is extremely durable considering its high-resolution color screen as well as its detailed keyboard. It is resistant to both physical blows, shocks, and drops, as well as small spills, but care must be taken to prevent the screen from cracking. Otherwise, the reinforced plastic casing of the calculator is resistant to daily wear and tear.

Performance

It is one of the most highly performing graphing calculators in the world: not only does it use highly updated software built by Texas Instruments, but also combines this with its high-resolution screen in order to demonstrate features that are not found some lower tiered calculators.

As mentioned above, its visualization method is top notch and allows students to view both abstract and basic mathematical ideas. The only Texas Instruments calculator that has more processing power is the Texas Instruments Nspire CX CAS Graphing Calculator.

Support

Texas Instruments have been producing this device for a few years, but it features many guides and troubleshooting tips on its official website. As this calculator is used by many others as well, their posts and guides are also viewable online as well, in various online websites listed here. There are already many FAQs, forums, and helpful tips that have been published online for free for technical questions.

Since the TI-Nspire CX is powerful, there are also various software upgrades that can connect both teachers and students in the classroom to assist in the learning of various mathematical concepts. This includes visualization, analysis, and sharing tools, which are all listed within its manual.
